FAQ

How is the Sleepy Hat different from other baby hats?

A carefully designed mask is attached to the hat. Just thick and wide enough to block light and visual distractions, it gently covers your baby's eyes to help them get to that sleepy state.

The Sleepy Hat is not intended as sleepwear or for overnight use. Please ensure adult supervision at all times when using this product, and follow instructions carefully.

  1. Put the Sleepy Hat on your baby’s head.
  2. Lower the eye mask to help create a calming environment, ensuring only the eyes are covered.
  3. Once your baby falls asleep, carefully remove the hat.

Will the Sleepy Hat help my baby fall asleep faster?

Whether indoors or outdoors, light, screens, and people can provide too much stimulation for your baby. Tired babies become frustrated by overstimulation and by their effort to ease into sleep.

The Sleepy Hat helps block out visual distractions so your baby can ease into that sleepy state more easily.

When and where should I use the Sleepy Hat?

Anytime and anywhere your baby needs to fall asleep. The Sleepy Hat is your magic wand!

It’s time to nap according to the routine you have found out works best, or baby is becoming fussy, or their eyes show the red tinge that is the tell-tale sign that sleep is needed. But it is broad daylight and whether you are home unable or unwilling to plunge the room in darkness, or out and about on a stroll, or shopping, or on a plane, Sleepy Hat is your salvation! Put it on baby's head, lower the eye mask, and let it do its magic. Once baby is asleep, remove the hat.

How do I pick the right size for my baby?

The Sleepy Hat comes in three sizes. The dimensions are listed in the product description, so simply measure the circumference of your baby's head and pick the size you need!

Is the Sleepy Hat made of safe materials?

Yes! Safety is important to us. The fabrics we used are OKEO-tex certified that have been tested by an independent third party lab.

What are some alternatives to swaddling?

While swaddling is a common practice to help babies feel secure and calm, it’s not the only method to soothe your little one. Some parents opt for alternatives like sleep sacks, white noise machines, or gently rocking their baby to sleep. However, for babies who find visual distractions overwhelming, blocking these out can be a game changer.

One great alternative to consider is the Sleepy Hat. Unlike swaddling, the Sleepy Hat focuses on reducing visual stimulation. It features a soft, attached mask that gently covers your baby’s eyes, helping to create a calm environment without restricting movement. This can be especially useful to help with daytime naps or in situations where dimming the room isn't possible.

The Sleepy Hat is designed to fit snugly, ensuring that your baby’s nostrils remain uncovered, making it a safe and effective option to help soothe baby while supervised. If you’re looking for a way to help your baby settle into sleep without the need for swaddling, the Sleepy Hat is a wonderful alternative!

Why was the Sleepy Hat created?

The Sleepy Hat was created by a first-time Mom who quickly realized that her baby fell asleep faster when his eyes were gently covered. This fairly quick realization was unfortunately followed by weeks of frustration when she and her partner tried (often with hilarious results) to find ways to cover their son's eyes. Something had to be done. To get the full story, click here.
