We tried. We were relentless. Draping a dish towel across baby’s eyes? It fell off. Swaddling them and positioning a corner of the blanket over their eyes? Nope. It moved right away. We used every piece of fabric or garment at hand to protect our baby's eyes from the light to help them fall asleep.
A couple of times we thought we had it. A muslin wrap positioned just so across the stroller. A cozy hat pulled down just enough to shade baby’s eyes. But then baby would move or we’d stroller over a bump on the sidewalk and our makeshift solution would fall apart. Baby was not sleeping. We were desperate. Perhaps you can relate.
Then we traveled to see family and stayed in a hotel. My husband and I both brought eye masks to help us sleep. All of a sudden we thought: if eye masks help us doze off, surely they could help baby too! Immediately, I got to work: sketching designs, choosing fabrics, measuring sizes. After a few rudimentary iterations I landed on a model that worked. With our fingers crossed and holding our breath, we went for a daytime stroll and gave it a try. Success! Wearing a comfortable, lightweight hat with a built-in eye mask draped across their eyes, baby nodded off to sleep, despite the light and visual stimuli of our neighborhood.
It’s so important to me to be able to give my baby a soothing environment wherever we go, and I’m thrilled to share this product with you and your family.
